Using towelroot to get root on nexus 5

Towelroot is awesome, let me tell you why

I wanted to create a few videos for my latest Costa Rica Live Wallpaper App. To make a video of a running app you have two options:

• adb
• screencast app

You can use adb to create a video of your device. It will be limited to 3 minutes and you need to have your device connected to your computer.

$>adb.exe shell screenrecord --verbose /sdcard/video.mp4

Using an android screen capture app 

Another option is to use a tool like ScreenCast Video Recorder. The app is easy to use. But the free version is limited to 30 second videos.

SCR Free is another android screencapture app. It is free and has no limitations. The only thing you need to be is root! The app is quite easy to use. After you opened it, you will see the small app with three buttons. You can drag this little app everywhere on your screen. To create a video tap the orange button.
To stop the recording, you need to turn of your screen and wait 2 seconds.

Getting root without reboot in less then a minte

Using towelroot, you can quickly get root for your device. No reboot needed. This is really awesome. You can download towelroot here. Install the .apk file and open it. You will see a screen like this:

To root your device, click on the button "make it rain". Wait a few seconds, and if you are lucky, you are root now:

Wie in meinem letzten Post angekündigt, habe ich die Newsreader App für Fefes Blog überarbeitet.
Die Liste der Neuerungen ist recht lang, deshalb erst zum wichtigsten Punkt.
Es gibt eine neue Permission:

• com.android.vending.BILLING

Da einige Nutzer danach gefragt haben, ist diese App nun in hellem und dunklem Theme verfügbar. Das Standardtheme für die App ist immer noch das dunkle Theme. Wenn ihr die App allerdings lieber hell haben wollt könnt ihr dies in den Einstellungen ändern. Die App startet sich danach im ausgewählten Theme neu.

Meine Newsreader App für Fefes Blog hatte heute einen kleinen Aussetzer. Aufgrund eines fehlerhaften XML verabschiedete sich die App bei jedem Update :)

Das gute an der Sache ist. Entweder hat Fefe sein XML gefixt oder das XML hat sich selbst gefixt :) Die App läuft wieder und benachrichtigt euch wenn Fefe etwas tolles postet.

Ich hab noch eine kleine Todo Liste an Features, die ich noch implementieren müsste. Es gibt auch einige kleine Bugs.
Sobald ich Zeit finde werde ich die App etwas überarbeiten und noch besser machen.

Android graphview Library and Proguard

If you are using GraphView inside your Android apps, make sure to exclude it from being obfuscated by your proguard config.
I recently changed my app Battery Temperature Guard. I do not use AndroidPlot anymore as a diagram. Instead I use Graphview. Its a cool library to quickly build scaleable and scrollable diagrams.

Everything worked great, but after I released my apps I noticed that scaling by pinch & zoom did not work anymore.
Logcat showed the logs below. By adding this simple line to my proguard.cfg I managed to exclude the graphview classes and packages from being obfuscated by proguard.

Where is my app?

Hey guys.

I always had the problem finding the apps I was looking for on my android device. While searching I kept swiping right and left through all my app icons but somehow I overseen the apps I was looking for.

Then I had an Idea:

After researching a little bit, I did not find any cool app for this feature, so I started to create it on my own. Developing the "search app by name"- feature, I added a few other cool features, like sorting apps by usage.

And now I present to the first release of: "Where is my app?" :)

The two main features of this app are:

• Search and filter all installed apps by name
• Sort apps by usage. That means, if you start apps with "Where is my app?" they will be grouped on top of all apps, so you can start your regular apps quicker.
• If you do a long click on the app icons, you can quickly view app informations or even deinstall an app with just a quick click :)
• Cool fancy animations

Lange hat es gedauert, aber jetzt ist sie endlich da. Die Android App für Fefes Blog! Als langjähriger Leser von Fefes Blog hatte ich vor seit einiger Zeit die Idee aus ein paar alten Schnipseln Code eine kleine Newsreader App zu basteln.
Jetzt ist sie endlich da und Fefe wird sich über dieses Wunderwerk aus Java und XML bestimmt freuen ;)

Die App ist werbefrei und kostenlos und das bleibt sie auch. Sie besteht aus einem kleinen Newsreader, welcher in definierbaren Abständen Fefes RSS-Feed abruft.

This app will run as a background service and will notify you if your device temperature is getting too high. Of course you can also customize the temperature when you want to get notified, as well as the notification sound etc.
